Birthdays deserve a post!!

No matter how unexcited I be
and the age keeps pestering me,
Someone said a Happy Birthday in advance
And my smile was back with a dance šŸ’ƒšŸ»

My Birthday is my most favourite day of the year; of the month and even of the week. Birthday is a birthday.
I feel less excited than I used to be as a kid. (Mind it, a single Birthday still is more exciting for me than probably someone's entire life incidents may be).
I start waiting for it in phases and I have my different set of countdowns for it:
As soon as the year starts.
27th June tells me it's just a month.
I love July and as it starts.
10th July is my sister's birthday and I just have to wait for another 17 days.
20th July and its seven days and those seven days are my happiest days of the year.

I cannot be calm, literally and figuratively and any adjective may be happily added to it- excitedly 😝
Ohh, how I wait for this day!!
As a kid, I would save my dress for Birthday. Even if it was a dress I got for Diwali. I had to wear a new one on my Birthday. It was never really a party but I loved distributing toffees, candies when in school- wearing the colourful clothes (which were mostly white- white being my favourite colour). And most of all, I've always loved the attention the Birthdays bring with them. I loved all of it.
I had a few rituals for the Birthdays (some remain, some just made peace with time- I had to grow up):
Visiting the temple (its on)
Toffees and chocolates for everyone (replaced by sweets)
Cake cutting (its on)
Calls and messages (they're on and I reply as enthusiastically as it's a kid enjoying them)
Oh, new clothes and dresses (so much more now)
Evening Puja (its on)
Counting of Birthday wishes (I understand they mean much more than the count now) (grew up 😂) – I count my blessings now

I love monsoons and rains and July.
Even when Birthday now means a number which tells me I'm getting old. It bothers me quite a bit only till someone tells me- Happy Birthday in Advance. The happiness of the Birthday is much more than the gloominess of the number which counts my age. There could never be anything which makes me feel like a kid as much as my Birthday.

More on this during the day. Much love for everyone reading through!!

Getting married at 27

When you get married at the age of 27, you’re basically looking at certain things in a rather fixated manner than when you’re getting married at age of 21-24 years.Ā Perspectives change and so do people. When someone would tell me, you mature with age; I’d just laugh it off thinking “I’m never going to change”. But then, change isn’t going to ring that doorbell, Knock on the front door, wait for you in the porch or sit on the sofa till you arrive on the same page. It just comes gradually, nimble-footed, judge you and bring about a change in the character of me or you or anyone.

Now, when I look at past; I’m still the same person but I come with some ifs, some buts and definitely a bigger butt. So marriages now mean something different from just love of a bygone teenager who’s 21 years old.

It is so true (pun totally intended) when someone says girls only have one plan and that is to get married. I probably had similar things in mind ever since (rolling and smokingĀ -lot pot), I think, I had marriage in my mind ever since I switched into that stage of puberty. You date someone, you fall in love, you adore someone; only to get married. That’s the ultimate Nirvana in the holy book of girls. Ever. Even when they are 14 or even when they’re 23. It is absolutely the same desire always (restricting the rest of the words).

When it comes to me, after seeing failed stints of some wonderful people, I’ve decided to be single in the coming months as well till my parents decide to marry me off (Indian society arranged marriage), as this is going to help me in the ways that cannot be just put on a piece of paper. I don’t have time for unimportant things and forĀ emotional dehydration.

I’ve traveled places, exchanged books with numerous people, struggled in my own way and learnt a few lessons and it is now difficult to take this all learning away from me. So, now when I look at perspective of getting married; things I’m going to ignore and rather comparatively, things I would look at now areĀ very different from those that would’ve captured my mind space some 5 years back Ā (Things that I’m going to look at- I’m still finalizing them šŸ˜‰ ).

On the contrary, getting married at an early age has its own set of disadvantages and advantages:

You instantly fall in love.Ā

Expectations are much lower.Ā

Compromises and adjustments are much easier.Ā

You’ve no idea what you’re signing up for.
If asked, my advice would be: Do not get married before 25 because you’re still immature but do not delay it any further because you’re losing out on learning of a beautiful relation called marriage.

Best wishes for married friends and awesomeness for those waiting to be.
